ENGEL Confirmed For Sweden's GÖTEBORGSKALASET Festival
July 25, 2005ENGEL, the new Gothenburg, Sweden-based quintet featuring guitarists Marcus Sunesson (ex-THE CROWN) and Niclas Engelin (PASSENGER, ex-GARDENIAN, IN FLAMES),drummer Mojjo (RELEVANT FEW, DRACENA),bassist Robert Hakemo (ex-GARDENIAN, GOOSEFLESH) and vocalist Mangan Klavborn, have been confirmed for the annual Göteborgskalaset, a nine-day festival set to be held August 5-13 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
"We're confirmed to be part of the 'metal day' at this year's Gothenburg festivities on August 8, which are a big happening and a party (which is held every year) for the city and Sweden as well," the band write in a press release. "ENGEL are scheduled to perform on the main stage and this embarks our second live appearance and the first time in front of our hometown crowd, so show up in time and spread the word. We're ready and fired up!"
This year will see 170 music performances out of a total of 700 program slots. In all, there will be 10 stages and 16 restaurants at the seven festival venues, all located within walking distance of the city center. Other bands scheduled to perform include CANDLEMASS, PAIN, CULT OF LUNA and DEFLESHED.
ENGEL, who had previously recorded a self-produced demo that Tue Madsen (MNEMIC, THE HAUNTED etc) mixed at Denmark's Antfarm studios in February, are currently working on new material which is "coming out real strong," according to a posting on the group's web site. New songtitles include "Propaganda", "Shatterday" and "My Hero". In the meantime, you can still download a live performance video shot in the group's rehearsal room of a new track entitled "Someone Died (And Made You God)" at this location (Windows Media required).
